The craftsman are still active in many Italian cities and the secrets of their jobs are handed down from father to son. After a delicious breakfasts, we'll meet Renzo, a local master of sculpture. He represents the excellence in the sculpting of famous local calcareous stone,better known as Lecce Stone or Pietra Leccese. We'll visit his laboratory, nuggled in the vivid contryside, for a fantastic showcase of the art of carving
Lecce Stone. We'll sculpting this very workable limestone ourselves and enjoying the magical transformation of a simple piece of stone into a work of art.
Food & Craſt in Lecce
On this day we will move to the city of Lecce to breathe in a pure masterpiece of baroque style, as authentic as it was centuries ago. We first walk in the heart of the old city to meet a local designer, Maurizio, who
will open for us the doors of his ancient arabesque house completely remodelled by himself. We will be welcomed with a lavish lunch served in the house and then our host will join us for an unforgettable stroll along the picturesque little alleys of the old town. The next thing on our agenda is a coffe break at Caffe Cittadino with Francesca, a local artisan of papier-maché. Later on, we will be accompanied to her laboratory where we will learn the ropes of this magical ancient tradition of turning paper into amazing works of art.
